“My daughter went to public school in Santa Monica, she is now a freshman at Cal. I met Ryan of RGTUTORS when my daughter was in 6th grade, Ryan was teaching math to her friend next door. He helped my daughter with math for five years. JAMS and Samohi are good schools but it is hard to find good teachers, particularly in math and science. My daughter had to teach herself a lot of the curriculum. She used Khan academy and tutors. We met with Ryan weekly for five years. “Ryan has worked with our son for 5 years (7th-11th grade), and it was an ideal experience for us as parents, and definitely for our son as well. Our experiences range from teachers who weren’t teaching much of the material, to ones who were, but the material was difficult to master, and in each case, Ryan was incredibly supportive. There was one semester when I think Ryan spent 3 hours per week in person, and was available via text for issues that came up in between, it’s hard to express how fortunate we felt to have Ryan in our corner for that period.
I’d also add that obviously you hire a math tutor to help with math concepts, but, what might not be as obvious is how important it is to have someone who comes in with a positive attitude, and instills confidence. This was definitely the case with Ryan, and I believe that confidence went well beyond math to all of our son’s other subjects.
