Meet Tutor Vanessa Dofat

I started tutoring in 2008 while I was still a student myself. I was able to understand and translate the information I learned to others that did not understand the teachers or professors. As an intern, I worked as a teacher’s assistant in a school for special needs where I learned the success of a fish cannot be measured by its ability to climb a tree. In order to be successful, I had to adapt my delivery to fit the student. 

I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics and have an extensive background in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Global History, offering a full range of support to any student that feels like a fish out of water. 

Vanessa’s Tutoring Focus

Over the last 13 years, I have been able to use my learned skills to help many students recognize their potential and overcome the hurdles in their academic career. I believe that each student is an individual and tailor my support to helping the individual rather than focusing on a specific assignment. I foster an environment that makes the student feel comfortable while relaying the information in a digestible format. I aim to help build each student with skills and confidence that remain with them throughout their life.

In my free time I really enjoy researching, reading, arts and crafts, and playing video games.
